Eating Out in the Tamar Valley

Both Devon and Cornwall are famous for their food, and the Tamar Valley is a veritable foodie paradise, well placed to enjoy both Cornish and Devon food, using superb local ingredients. Throughout the valley, you'll find fantastic places to eat out, from seemingly humble cafes and pubs to superb fine dining restaurants, all using the best Cornish and Devon ingredients.

From amazing cheeses and unique local fruit and juices, to traditionally reared poultry, beef, venison, and lamb from small local farms right down to an incredible range of wonderful preserves and chutneys, the food from the Tamar valley area gives plenty to work with. And the honey from the Tamar Valley bees, which are able to wander from old apple and cherry orchards to primrose banks, to heather and gorse on the hills, is very special indeed. Many of our smaller suppliers have joined together to form Tamar Grow Local.

These wonderful ingredients have brought to the Tamar Valley some very expert chefs, some boasting two or three AA rosettes. Most proudly list their local suppliers and can often tell you which farm your ingredients came from. Whether you prefer excellent pub food, are looking for a cafe for a light lunch or a hearty meal, or want a special evening out at a restaurant run by one of the nation's top chefs, you'll find plenty of options in the Tamar Valley.
